Tickets for Playcrafters of Skippack, our community theater, are sold at very reasonable prices. Other events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.
March 2013 Skippack Events
Spring Fling 2013
March 22, 23, and 24; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
The fun starts: This year’s kick off event for the Skippack events season. Participating shops and restaurants offer special savings, refreshments, drawings and events. Shredding truck: On March 23, from 10 am to 12 pm, bring your paperwork and have it shredded for free. Just come to town.

Playcrafters of Skippack: The Cementery Club, by Ivan Menchell
Opening night: April 18, Thursday Closing performance: May 4, Saturday
A story about love and friendship and how people endure conflict and loss through time. Three women from the Jewish community in Pittsburgh, in their mid-to-late 50s, have become widows within the past few months. Once a week, they gather to visit their husbands’ graves and meet at a deli afterward to talk about their lives. Troubles arise when one of the women meets a gentleman, and begins dating him and building a new life for herself. Playcrafters of Skippack barn theater is located on 2011 Store Road.

May 2013 Skippack Events
First Friday in May
The third year of a great new Skippack tradition: First Friday. This is the first First Friday of 2013 and goes from 5 pm to 9 pm. Shops stay open late and musicians, artists and family entertainers enliven sidewalks, porches, shops and restaurants throughout the village. Plenty of free parking, just come to town.

Spring Food & Wine Festival

Playcrafters of Skippack: Awake and Sing, by Clifford Odets
Opening night: May 23, Thursday Final performance: June 8, Saturday
Set in the Bronx in 1933, parents scheme to manipulate their children’s relationships to their own ends, while their children strive for their own dreams in Clifford Odets’ prize winning drama. Playcrafters of Skippack barn theater is located on 2011 Store Road.

Skippack Village Continental Car Show
June 2, Sunday Rain Date: June 9, Sunday
Car Show featuring American-made cars, begins at 11 am and goes to 5 pm. Activities include: car corral, food, music, face painting, kids cartoon character visit, plus much more. Amazing autos are exhibited throughout the village; the center of activity is at the Hotel Fiesole parking lot, 4046 Skippack Pike.

First Friday in June

Playcrafters of Skippack: Caught in the Net, by Ray Cooney
Opening night: June 27, Thursday Final performance: July 13, Saturday
If you think your life is complicated, imagine the life of two-timing taxi driver John Smith who keeps two separate families. His teenage children, a girl from one family and a boy from the other, meet in an Internet chat room and are eager to meet in person. John’s already hectic life shifts into high gear as he tries to keep his double life a secret. Caught in the Net is the sequel to Run For Your Wife, a play by Ray Cooney that ran in London for 9 years. Playcrafters of Skippack barn theater is located on 2011 Store Road.
July 2013 Skippack Events
Fourth of July Parade and Fireworks
Yankee Doodle goes to town, Skippack town. Wonderful small town parade begins at 11:00 a.m. and travels down Route 73 through the heart of Skippack Village. Barbecue at Parc Bistro and fireworks at dusk in Skippack Village.
Note from the Skippack Blogger: Fourth of July in Skippack captures just the right spirit. It is a traditional, neighborhood fourth of July with a touch of Skippack flair. The parade is fantastic. This event attracts a large crowd, so come early to secure a good spot along Skippack’s main street.

Skippack Village Carnival
July 16 thru 20, Tuesday thru Saturday
Amusement, games and family fun: An old-fashioned carnival. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, the carnival starts at 6 pm and runs to 10 pm. On Saturday, the carnival runs from 3 pm to 6 pm and takes place at 4059 Skippack Pike, across the street from the Basta Pasta. Call 610-584-6004.

Note from the Skippack Blogger: Everyone should know the happiness of living in a town like Skippack, where an old-fashioned carnival, with bright lights, popcorn, cotton candy and festive noise, sprouts for a short few days in summer. It reminds us that life is not all about work, decorum and responsibility.

Playcrafters of Skippack: Sweeney Todd
Opening night: August 8, Thursday Final performance: August 24, Saturday
Landmark musical about the barber Sweeney Todd’s savage quest for justice and retribution after years of false imprisonment. Aided by his landlady Mrs. Lovett, who is secretly in love with him, he sets out to avenge the wrongs done to him and his family. Combining comic turns and chilling drama, music hall-style numbers and hauntingly beautiful romantic songs, Sweeney Todd offers a fascinating portrait of a man driven to madness by injustice. Widely acknowledged as Stephen Sondheim’s musical masterpiece. Playcrafters of Skippack barn theater is located on 2011 Store Road.

Playcrafters of Skippack: God of Carnage
Opening night: September 12, Thursday Final performance: September 28, Saturday
Two pairs of parents meet to discuss a fight between their children and resolve the matter in a civilized manner. As the evening progresses, they become increasingly childish and the discussion devolves into chaos. Yasmina Reza’s devilishly funny look at uncivil adults; a hit when it opened on Broadway. Playcrafters of Skippack barn theater is located on 2011 Store Road.

Skippack Days
October 6 and 7, Saturday and Sunday
The largest event of the year in Skippack Village, Skippack Days features crafts, food, family fun, jewelry, vendor sale, artwork, and live entertainment. On both Saturday and Sunday, festivities begin at 10 am and end at 6 pm. Skippack Days 2013 marks the 41st year of this festival.

Winetober Fest
Third year of Skippack’s fall wine festival. Multiple covered venues throughout Skippack Village will host Pennsylvania Wineries along with food samples, live music and art exhibits. Playcrafters of Skippack: Two Gentlemen of Verona, by William Shakespeare
Opening night: October 18, Friday Final performance: October 27, Sunday
The Bard of Stratford on Avon comes to Skippack Village. One of Shakespeare’s early comedies, Two Gentlemen of Verona is a coming-of-age story about youth, friendship, and forgiveness. Valentine and Proteus are the best friends. When Valentine moves to the big city of Milan and promptly falls in love with the beautiful Sylvia, Proteus can’t stay behind for long. He leaves his own newly-won beloved Julia in Verona. When in Milan, Proteus also falls for Sylvia. Playcrafters of Skippack barn theater is located on 2011 Store Road.

Coming to Skippack: Shakespeare
Children’s Halloween Parade
Kids get to wear costumes and participate in a parade. Parade begins at 10 a.m. at Hotel Fiesole, 4046 Skippack Pike, and ends at Mal’s Diner with a treat and craft. Cuteness is guaranteed. Registration is recommended but people who do not register will not be turned away. To register, go to Mal’s American Diner, located at 4006 Skippack Pike, and fill out the registration form. Pleasse call Mal’s Diner at 610-584-0900.
International Car Show
October 20, Sunday Rain Date: October 27, Sunday
Activities include: car corral, car rally, junior auto show, food and beer, cartoon character, face painting for the kids, vendors, and prizes. Enjoy beautiful vintage automobiles in beautiful Skippack Village. Amazing autos are exhibited throughout the village, the center of activity is at the Hotel Fiesole parking lot, 4046 Skippack Pike.
Community Services Day
October 20, Sunday Rain Date: October 27, Sunday
Meet local heroes and helpers. Vital service providers, such as the police and fire company, and local non-profit organizations set up exhibits, give demonstrations, and make themselves available to talk to people in the community. Held at the Victorian Carriage Shops in the heart of Skippack, 4039 Skippack Pike, noon to 4 pm. Rain date is Concurrent with the Skippack International Car Show.

Annual Christmas Tree Lighting
Lighting of the village Christmas tree. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. in the Floral and Hardy Parking Lot, 4007 Skippack Pike. Celebrate the joy of the season with carolers, tree lighting and visit from Santa in beautiful Skippack Village.
Illuminaire Nights in Skippack
November 23 through December 21, Wednesdays and Fridays
Each evening, from 5 pm to 9 pm, the Village of Skippack is aglow with the warm light of candles, hospitality and the sounds of the season. Luminaries line the sidewalks outside the stores and restaurants to light the way for shoppers and diners. Many of the shops and restaurants throughout the Village will be offering special treats and refreshment, activities, in store sales and other surprises for shoppers. First Time Event: Public lighting of a Hanukkah Menorah in Skippack
For the first time in the 300-plus year history of Skippack, a menorah will be lit in a public ceremony to acknowledge the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. All are welcome. The ceremony will take place in the area of the Victorian Carriage Shops in the heart of Skippack Village, 4039 Skippack Pike.
