As much as I profess to love my home and to accept the settled life appropriate for my age, a spirit lives within me that yearns for adventure and the exotic. My plan is to spend the rest of my years with my beloved wife in Skippack; however, each day I must suppress an urge within me to turn to her and say, “C’mon, baby, the plane is waiting. Tahiti beckons. Let’s go.”

Jason Brown, the owner of Love Hot Dog Company, a new mobile food service which has raised a bright banner in Skippack, understands the adventurous spirit within the Skippack Blogger. For along with hot dogs and burgers and other familiar lunch fare, he offers exotic delights, like duck, elk, venison, and crocodile. You heard me right, crocodile. And people actually eat it. I can prove it. Watch the video.

A Morsel of What Makes Skippack Special

Upon reflection, Jason and the Love Hot Dog Company embody exactly what the Skippack Blogger loves about Skippack: The combination of a down-to-earth, neighborhood-focused sensibility with a flair for the creative and unusual, a paradox which is on display in our village at restaurants, entertainment venues, shops and in the general outlook of many people who live or work here. For me, this is a recipe that makes Skippack a special treat.

The Love Hot Dog Company Guy Also Loves Skippack

“What I love about Skippack,” says Jason, who lives in nearby Harleysville and recently opened his mobile dining experience in our village, “is that everybody has been so welcoming to us. We’re not exactly your typical food business, but people have welcomed us and embraced us. Customers come back day after day; they tell their friends and post on Facebook. What more can you ask from a town?”

These words are music to the ears of the Skippack Blogger.

I have also had the pleasure of meeting Jason’s wife Melissa and his two young sons, who operate a lemonade stand in conjunction with the Love Hot Dog Company in the summer months.

Dear Reader: The next time you are in the region for lunch and pass a Wendy’s or McDonald’s, keep driving and head for the Love Hot Dog company in Skippack. Enjoy an exotic, gourmet carry-out lunch or a more customary Vienna hot dog, with toppings to your liking. Tell Jason the Skippack Blogger says hello. If you have time, explore the area. You too may fall in love with Skippack, if you haven’t already.

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. Even better, get a fresh-squeezed lemonade at the Love Hot Dog Company, a great new Skippack dining option. Pictured here is the Skippack Blogger with owner Jason Brown.
