Skippack Magic from Sharp Unique Gifts
Skippack is a magical town. So what is more fitting than receiving a magical gift from Skippack Village?
This year, for our fifth wedding anniversary, Debby got me something quite special from Sharp Unique Gifts for Men — The Masters of Mystery limited edition pen by Retro 51, a manufacturer of fine writing instruments. The Masters of Mystery pen pays tribute to legendary masters of magic.
I, for one, love a magic pen as well as a magic show. Life itself is a mystery, and what do magicians teach us but that there exist possibilities far beyond our established thinking patterns and habits. I hope this pen will unlock creative possibilities for me as a writer that I will share in this blog with you, dear reader. That will be the best magic of all.
The Art of Magic Meets the Magic of Art
The later years of the nineteenth century and the beginning years of the twentieth were the golden age of magic. By happy coincidence, this was also the golden age of the poster, and legendary performers like Harry Houdini promoted their shows with beautiful posters, created using stone lithography. The Masters of Mystery pen depicts a collage of historic poster images from great magicians:
- Houdini
- Ionia the Enchantress
- Harry Kellar
- Alexander “The Man Who Knows”
- Charles Carter “Carter the Great”
What’s the Magic Word?
The magic a blogger deals in is, of course, the magic of words. “Abracadabra” is a wonderful word commonly used when performing magical tricks. “Thanks” is also a magical word; it brings to life the gratitude that lies dormant in our hearts. If we cultivate gratitude, we will always be happy. And happiness is the magic ingredient we need to transform our ordinary, sometimes painful, lives into something as spectacular and sensational as a magic show.
Thanks to co-owners Jack Berk and his wife Eileen for all the hard work they put into making Sharp Unique Gifts for Men a great store in Skippack Village. And thanks to my wife Debby for the great gift. I love you.

Skippack

After performing full time for over 25 years all over PA, New Jersey, and Delaware it is a thrill for me to finally be discovered, and performing in my own back yard. Please look for me at the Collegeville farmers market, the Skippack farmers market, and at the Skippack First Friday celebration. You also can find out what public events I will be performing at from my Al Angello Comic, juggler, magician Facebook fan page “Al Angello Comic Juggler, Magician Philadelphia.”
I can’t wait to shop here! Shhhhhhhhhh, don’t tell Brad!
